More than 20 years in search, personalization, and commerce platforms, across both B2B and B2C. At 1WorldSync, a division of GS1, Rob's work brought syndicated GDSN product data into ecommerce systems, the through line to the standards work behind CatalogIQ today.
“You cannot improve data you cannot score.”
Every tool that could touch a catalog wanted to sell the cleanup, and measured nothing it could be held to. The number a distributor actually needed, an honest read on whether the catalog could compete, was the one number no one would give them.
I started Magnet Labs to build it: an independent score, measured against the standard rather than our opinion, that you can trust precisely because no vendor with a fix to sell produced it. We published the method so anyone can check it.
As buying shifts to AI agents and marketplaces that read product data directly, that score stops being a nicety and starts deciding which catalogs get found. CatalogIQ is the measure I wished existed when I was on the other side of it.
Magnet Labs is a Google for Startups company and a small, US based team building the independent measurement layer for catalog quality. CatalogIQ is the score that layer produces.
CatalogIQ is not a dashboard bolted onto a PIM. It is three hard problems solved in the open, all grounded in published standards rather than private opinion.
The CatalogIQ Index reads a catalog the way a buyer, a search engine, and an AI agent do, and resolves it to one 0 to 100 number across thirteen dimensions and two sub indices. The method is published in full, so the number is auditable, not asserted.
A multi standard waterfall matches each product against published taxonomies in priority order, recording which standard grounded the score. Identity is anchored on GS1 and GTIN, so a product is measured against the classification that fits it.
Remediation closes the gaps measurement finds, built from the trusted sources you designate. Nothing counts as done because someone marked it done. It counts when a fresh measurement confirms it, including our own work. Secondary to the score, always.
Magnet Labs is built by people with deep, hands on experience across both B2B and B2C ecommerce, the search, data, and commerce teams that have run real product catalogs at scale and felt exactly where they break. That is why CatalogIQ measures what actually moves the order, not what is easy to count.
Search and personalization, commerce platforms, and product data standards. B2B and B2C.
You can get a score without handing us your data. When we do work with your data, you designate the source, we use it only to deliver your engagement, and you can get it back or have it deleted on request. We never sell or share it across customers.
